A minimalist evening journaling scene features a closed stone-grey notebook with a subtle fabric texture, positioned slightly off-center on a dark walnut desk. Next to it, a sleek brushed-steel table lamp with a cylindrical white shade casts warm, focused light onto the notebook’s cover, creating a soft highlight and gentle shadow gradient. A small, square glass of water and a single black pen rest nearby, carefully spaced to maintain balance. The background fades into soft darkness with only the suggestion of a wall’s edge, keeping attention on the journal. Photographic realism, shot from a slightly elevated three-quarter angle with a controlled, shallow depth of field. The atmosphere is calm, reflective, and disciplined, conveying an intentional nightly journaling habit for personal growth.

About Journaling My Life.

Welcome to Journaling My Life. I am Mary Rettig. I am a coach and journaling guide. I have a degree in ECE and human services—a certified coach from CTA.

I have lived my whole life with anxiety. In today’s world, most of us have experienced anxiety to some degree. For myself and others, what helps most is journaling and self-care activities.

This blog is focused on both journaling and self-care activities. Join this community, read some posts, and comment on them. I include journal prompts and activities.

I am also interested in journaling, stress management, breathwork, and arts & crafts for well-being.

I love cats and have adopted two stray cats named Oreo and Blackie. They are mainly indoor cats, but he goes outdoors several times daily.

I have been a vegetarian for over 15 years.

I have been married for over 25 years and am a caregiver to my husband for the last 7 years, and I helped care for my mom for a few years till she passed.

I created the blog Journaling My Life because I want to pursue my interests and passions. I love to journal and would be happy to serve as your journaling guide.

The focus of this blog is on women who have problems with worry and anxiety.

There are many ways to journal as there are people. So, subscribe to my blog and newsletter, grab a journal, and let’s go.
